Give Claude Code licensed data to cite
Add Graunt to Claude Code and it can search Graunt's listings, tell you what each seller allows, and link the listing it used so you can cite it.
1. Add Graunt to Claude Code
Run this in your terminal, in the folder you work in. It takes no Graunt account and no key.
claude mcp add --transport http graunt https://api.graunt.com/v1/mcp
Check it with claude mcp list. A working connection shows graunt: https://api.graunt.com/v1/mcp (HTTP) - ✔ Connected.
Each command adds the server to the project you run it in. Add --scope user to have it in every project.
2. Ask a question
Start claude in the same folder and ask about the data you need. For example:
- “Find U.S. federal holidays for 2026 on Graunt and link the listing you used.”
- “Find SPDX license identifiers on Graunt. Which of MIT, MPL-2.0 and GPL-3.0-only are copyleft? Link the listing.”
- “Is there a Graunt listing that maps stock tickers to SEC CIK numbers? What does it cost, and what does the seller allow?”
3. Watch it search and read
Claude Code shows each call it makes to Graunt's tools as it runs: a search, then a fetch for the listing it picked.
search returns the listings that match, each with its title and link. fetch returns one listing: its description, price, whether you need an account, and the rights its seller declares. A free listing that needs no account comes with its files, so the answer can come from the data itself.
4. Check the rights
Every listing says whether you may train AI on it, share or resell it, and whether you must credit the source. fetch returns those rights with the listing, so Claude Code can tell you before you use the data. If the answer leaves them out, ask what the seller allows.
The rights are the seller's own declarations. When you buy a listing, your rights are recorded with your purchase. How licensing works
5. Cite the listing
Claude Code links the listing it used, at graunt.com/listings/…. Use that link as your citation. It opens the listing's page, with its title, seller, price and rights.
6. Use a paid listing
When a listing has a price, fetch gives you the price and the rights, and no files. Open the listing's link, sign in, and buy it on graunt.com.
To have Claude Code read what you've bought, add your library. It's a second connector that signs in with your Graunt account and reads only what you own.
claude mcp add --transport http graunt-library https://api.graunt.com/v1/mcp/library
Then, in Claude Code, run /mcp, choose graunt-library, and pick Authenticate. Sign in at graunt.com and click Allow read access.
Then ask Claude Code to read the listing you bought. The library adds three tools: library_list, library_get_item and library_read_file. You can revoke it any time from Account → Connected assistants.
